Spring cleaning in Central Florida isn't the same thing it is up north. We don't have windows sealed shut for six months. What we do have is pollen, love bugs on the way, humidity climbing every week, and an AC that's about to work overtime through October. March is your window to prep the house before Florida summer takes over.
The Central Florida difference
- Pollen peaks in March–April. Oak, pine, and grass. Everything outdoors is coated. Everything indoors will be too if you don't stay ahead of it.
- Love bugs hatch late April. Screen doors, patios, and pool decks get hit hardest.
- Humidity climbs from 60% to 78% between March and June. Mildew starts hiding in bathrooms and closets.
- AC runs longer. Dust from vents and returns becomes the #1 dust source in every room.
The full room-by-room spring plan
1. HVAC and vents (do this first)
- Replace every AC filter. Set a phone reminder for every 30 days through October.
- Vacuum every supply and return vent cover. Wipe with a damp cloth.
- Schedule a professional HVAC tune-up if you haven't in the last 12 months.
2. Windows, screens, and tracks
- Remove screens, rinse with a hose, dry, reinstall.
- Vacuum window tracks first, then wipe with a vinegar solution.
- Wash interior glass with a squeegee. Streak-free every time.
- Wipe blinds slat by slat with a damp microfiber. Pollen loves blinds.
3. Baseboards and walls
- Baseboards throughout — this is what turns a "clean" house into a truly clean house.
- Spot-clean wall scuffs with a Magic Eraser or diluted dish soap.
- Wipe door frames, especially around handles and at kid height.
4. Kitchen deep pass
- Empty and wipe every drawer and cabinet.
- Degrease cabinet fronts and hood.
- Clean inside oven, microwave, and dishwasher.
- Pull the fridge out; vacuum coils; sweep behind.
5. Bathroom mildew reset
- Oxygen-bleach grout scrub.
- Re-caulk any darkened seams (a $4 fix that lasts a year).
- Deep-clean shower door tracks with a toothbrush.
- Wash bath mats, shower curtains, and liners.
6. Soft furnishings
- Wash all curtains and drapes (pollen magnets).
- Vacuum couch cushions top and bottom; rotate.
- Rotate and flip mattresses; wash mattress covers.
- Steam-clean carpets and rugs if it's been over a year.
7. Outdoor prep
- Pressure-wash the driveway, walkway, and patio.
- Rinse pollen off screen enclosures and pool cages.
- Clean the grill inside and out — grilling season is here.
- Empty and hose out trash and recycling bins.
The 4-hour version (for busy weekends)
- Change AC filter + vacuum vents (20 min)
- Wipe all blinds and window sills (45 min)
- Bathroom grout + caulk reset (60 min)
- Baseboards throughout (60 min)
- Fridge, oven, microwave (45 min)
Or hand the whole list to us. A one-time deep cleaning in Lakeland knocks out the entire spring reset in a single visit and gives you a clean baseline to maintain with a recurring plan.
